• Government allocates $5.5 million to deliver upgrades to busy Morley intersection
• A roundabout will be constructed to improve safety and traffic flow
• New investment comes on top of an initial $500,000 allocation for planning 

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti has today announced an additional $5.5 million has been allocated to deliver upgrades to the busy intersection of Morley Drive and Bath Road.

The additional funding takes the Government's overall investment in the project to $6 million, following an earlier allocation of $500,000 for early planning works.

The additional investment means the project is now fully funded for construction.

The project will see the construction of a new dual-lane roundabout, reducing congestion and improving traffic flow for the more than 25,000 motorists using the intersection each day.

The project will also see the shared path realigned, new lighting installed, and construction of three median refuges - improving safety for riders and pedestrians.

Main Roads are currently progressing with the development of the project, with the proposed design expected to be released for community consultation in February 2023.

Service relocations are expected to commence in mid-2023, with construction expected to get underway in early-2024.

The $6 million project - which will support around 38 direct and indirect jobs - is fully funded by the State Government and is expected to be completed by mid-2024.

"Main Roads are in the process of finalising the designs for the new road layout, and will begin consultation with the community early next year.
